My life lately... (Part 1)

It has been a couple of months since I last wrote on this blog, and now that I have time to finally dedicate myself to it, and I wanted to tell you what have I been doing lately. My life is not that exciting but I want to write this post in parts so I have a reason to write again :)

I'm going to start with Melissa Araujo, she is a Brazilian fashion designer who contacted me to collaborate with her. I am taking pics of her style for her blog, we have been meeting frequently, and I would like to show you some of my work.

She's wearing: American Apparel Wool Club Jacket, Disco Pants, Beanie + Polka Dot Socks and Splendid Men's Sweatshirt.

She's wearing: Cyeoms Chiffon Jacket, Melissa Araujo Skirt (from new collection coming soon), American Apparel Beanie & Tights, H&M Clutch and Leather Vintage boots.

Spotted: Heyvero!

It just so happened that this tiny balloon was floating around the convention center at Vancouver downtown, and I took some shots at it for one of my best friends and awe-inspiring blogger heyvero.

Behind the scenes

And of course I got a "fashion" shot. I have to say my style is improving by the day, and these are all my clothes I brought from Venezuela, minus the coat. I guess I'm starting to learn how to put things together.

If you are one of those who'd like to know what I'm wearing: Coat: Vero Moda (coincidence?);
Sweater: I have no idea, pretty old; Shirt under sweater: Bershka, Jeans: Aishti (A boutique in Venezuela), shoes: Breckelle's

Then, we went inside the convention center where there was a Yoga convention and the Christmas Market. Both huge. My lovey and I got to pose in front of the enormous earth globe and so did the heyvero's globe.

About fall fashion

I wanted to make a post about my fashion clothes, and because yesterday was a sunny day I guess it was just perfect. I've been trying to play with layers mainly because I don't melt. I've done some experiments with my clothes, some work some doesn't but that's fashion right? Trying to get to the sweet style spot.

If you are interested to know I'm wearing a forever 21 dress which I choose to wear it as a dress, Zara's sweater, my grandmother sew this shirt for me, from this tutorial, Roxy boots, top shop tights. And Peperita's accessories.

This is the shirt without the sweater.

My lovey dovey also had his pic taken, isn't he handsome?

Instameet Vancouver in October

Yesterday was a really fun day, I finally got to meet cool people from instagram. This instameet it's organized every month as a photowalk. I brough my camera with me and these are my favorite photos, I didn't take that many because Gian and me had to leave early to the whitecaps game :)

The fashionable girl bellow @beyunique was posing for me, loved her animal print hat.

I've been following @bryceevansphoto since I was living in Venezuela, it's nice to see one of your favorite insagrammers in action.

We went to the Science World and got cool shots there.

Sick photographer @artfuldesperado, @girloclock (organizer) and @bryceevansphoto

Captured @lisawoodenshoes taking photos of the fall. She was an interesting subject to photograph.

And this was the whole group, the pic was taken by @girloclock in front of the salt building near Olympic Village station. Hope I can see them all again next month.

20 basics for my style {20 days}

I've been quite busy in the past couple of days, Gian and I have been doing some errands relevant to our trip. At the same time I'm so glad you guys have been helping me with the giveaway stuff, I haven't been on twitter or posting a lot, so THANK YOU!

Ever since Pinterest was relevant to my life I've been collecting images to update my style or to have one at all. The items in my wardrobe are either something that were a gift from my mom/family or something I bought probably because it was cheap.

I never gave too much attention about choosing the right piece for my wardrobe but this past few months everytime I go window shopping and I see something that catches my eye I'm always thinking if that piece is going to match with the rest of my clothes or if I'm going to wear it at all, regardless of the price. Cheap clothes doesn't always mean they're the right choice and expensive clothes doesn't mean you're a fashionista either.

Today I'm choosing 20 basic pieces for building MY style

I have to say that all my tank tops and t-shirts have acquired a special place right in my PJ's drawer, I used to dress just for comfort and necessity but I've gained a sense of fashion (even though it hasn't showed up in my wardrobe)

Almost all of my pants are blue jeans, I wish to have a little more colors and textures.

I truly love skirts, my grandma made some maxi skirts for me because she is the best, also cause I wish to wear them more often and because I'm so short (5'1"/155cm) I can only wear really long or above the knee skirts, if i wear something in between I look shorter. By the way, a pencil skirt is my ultimate want, more if its peplum.
I used to wear hoodies all the time but I've grown to hate them. For my basics I chose a cardigan, a sweater and a nice coat for winter.

Along with the skirts I wish I'd wear more dresses but I don't actually own very casual dresses. My old dresses look a little too old and not in a cute vintage chic kind of way.

I loved to wear flip flops or anything that's comfortable but I'm kind of sick of it. I'm craving for some Lita boots or a pair of black boot wedges, some decent flats, updated pair of heels and some lovely oxfords.

I wish to do a wardrobe cleansing so stay tooned and see what is savable from my closet and what's not.

Movie Adventures {30 days}

We are leaving in a month! Days go by really fast. 4 years ago I was at Simon Bolivar International Airport, watching the Last Olympics Ceremony at Beijing. Today I'm freaking married and a month short to move to Canada.

I took a photo of the Canadian athletes just for the heck of it. I also took a photo of the Venezuelan athletes but it was far too disappointing.

On Saturday me and Gian went to see the new Batman Movie, we went early cause we know how people are. We ate sushi, went window shopping and started to make a line for the movie at 7:20pm (the movie started at 9:15pm)

I've always wanted Sony's bloggie camera for my vlogging dreams. I wanted to start a vlog, documenting the 50 days before we leave but I turned it into a blog.

Even though I didn't take a pic of my whole outfit that night, I was really proud of it. Right now I'm loathing all my clothes. I need a wardrobe rehab.

I tried on some Lita boots I really like, didn't know they were so comfortable. Gian told me I looked like Lady Gaga, I didn't know if he was insulting me but I took it at a compliment, she is fierce.

We were second in line, it was really early. A lot of people did the same thing so we made the right choice.

About the movie, yes The Dark Night Rises was an epic conclusion. Kind of a long movie but it was worth it. I don't think this is spoilerish but here i go: Bane's voice was unexpected. Tom Hardy did a great job and so did Nolan (excellent piece of work) and Michael Caine (he almost makes me cry) and my other husband Joseph Gordon-Levitt oh and that guy, batman, we was great too.

Well that's all. Have a nice week :) Pin It Now!

Loving Matte Nails {35 days}

Sources: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5

This is one of those trends that I absolutely adore, the matte finish on nails are stunning... if you do it right. I also love super shiny and glittery polishes but this one is very different and subtle.

There are different ways to get this look, if you are lucky to live in a first world country or any country that is not Venezuela, you can find a variety of products like Essie top coat, Orly's Matte Couture, OPI top coat, Zoya's matte nail polish and so on.

I don't know if you can find these amazing products here in Venezuela, but I found Valmy's Matte Effect Top coat, unfortunately the finish is not as awesome as the other products I mentioned before.

I'm not an artist when it comes to nail art and don't get me started with what happens when I do my right hand, so I'm really sorry for what you are about to see.

This is the effect that Valmy's top coat looks like, but it doesn't stay like that for too long, I wouldn't recommend it if there was other options but if you wanna have fun just go for it.

Do you like this trend? Would you try it?
